Blake advancing in Tae Kwon Do

Blake has been participating in Tae Kwon Do at our gym for a few months now.  Today he graduated from a white belt to a white belt with a yellow stripe, and in order to do that, he had to break two boards.  He was so proud and we are SO proud of him!!!

Spring break fun (and a precious baby!)

Tadd and I decided to take the boys on a little "staycation" this year for spring break.  We rented a hotel in Dallas and did lots of fun stuff.  We went to Medieval Times, which was a HUGE hit.  We also hit up the go-cart place, Dave and Busters, the childrens' museum, and we even rode on the DART.  Priceline came through for us again and we got a great deal on our hotel.  If you've never tried naming your own price, I highly recommend it if you're not picky about which specific hotel you stay at.  Great great deals.
After our staycation, Ryan, Bran, and the kids arrived and we played with them for a few days.  We hate that they are so far away, but are so glad we still are lucky enough to get together several times a year.  The cousins all love each other so much.

Bad bad blogger

I am way, way, way behind, but my goal this month is to catch up on my blogging!  Bear with me and keep checking back.  I will back date everything so you'll have to scroll down to see all my new posts.

Safari Projects

The big 2nd grade project is safari animals.  The kids are studying biomes and the grasslands and they are all assigned a safari animal to make.  Blake was given a cape buffalo and Cody got a dung beetle.  Thank the Lord they were not both assigned large animals.  We were supposed to make them as close to life size as possible, so we chose a baby buffalo.  :)
Thank goodness for my mom's help.  She is so creative with this stuff and I don't think they would have looked near as good without her!!
It was truly a family project, and I'm proud of how hard the boys worked.  I had to do most of the paper mache-ing, but they painted and added small touches.  They are very very proud of their animals and I can't wait to see them all displayed at Open House!!

ICE!

Every year the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine puts on a huge exhibit made out of ice.  It is so incredible to see.  This year they also had indoor snow sledding.  We headed out there with some friends and had a really good time.  The theme was "Shrek the Halls" and the entire exhibit was made of Shrek characters.  It is absolutely freezing in there (obviously) so we layered tons of clothes on, but it was still miserably cold.  We had gone a few years back and I remember now why I had said then that I wouldn't go back.  It's a cool thing to see if you can handle the cold though!!

Zach the Elf

We had a new friend come to visit this Christmas season.  Zach the elf appeared at our house and we really enjoyed having him around.  He made us laugh with his different hiding places and we were very sad to see him go home with Santa.   Hopefully he'll come visit again next year!!
